First phase of implementation is to gather detailed information about your business. Such information include; defining the raw materials, semi-finished product parts and the products (with their receipts). Defining the product receipts also includes defining each manufacturing process, defining the ingredients of each product and the order of the processes with the semi-finished materials input/output. After that, second phase will begin with registering the financial/non-financial cards, which are related to your workshops, suppliers, customers, outsourcers, etc. and any other accounting records you might have. In case of the list of these cards being too long to have them entered by operators, Karbyte can provide direct data transfer from MS SQL®/Access® databases or simply from MS Excel® sheets. Defining the products at the first phase of implementation is the most important subject at implementation. Therefore it requires the utmost attention to it. By defining the product, you will notice that you are actually telling the software how the product is manufactured step by step. System Requirements and Technical Features Even if the specifications for the server to be used as the main data source may change according to the business turnover and complexity, a single server with an Intel Pentium® IV CPU, 512 MB RAM with 5 GB of free hard drive is usually enough for most SME’s. Karbyte performs better when used on hardware using multiple CPUs (Xeon, Itanium, etc.). In case of clients, even a Pentium® III CPU at 500MHz is enough with 64MB RAM and 50 MB of free hard drive. Each client needs to have at least one printer connected directly or over a network to it. This printer should be defined as the default printer for the Windows operating system. It does not matter if this printer is dot-matrix, ink-jet or laser. Karbyte Sales and Manufacturing Management is designed for use on Windows 98/98SE, ME, 2000, XP and 2003 for both the server and the clients. The tests for the alpha versions of the upcoming operating system (codename Longhorn) of Microsoft® are currently successful. Our software is developed using MS Visual Basic® and MS Access® software development tools. It requires the freeware runtime versions of these software and is delivered and installed together with them. Therefore, it does not require you to buy the full versions. On the database side, it uses MS SQL Server 2000® (freeware desktop version is also delivered/installed together with Karbyte) using ADO and ODBC connectors. Thanks to ADO and ODBC; you may choose to use less expensive database software like MS Access® and dBase® as well. For companies having more then 10 users, complex and fast business turnover, the full version of SQL Server 2000® is recommended for efficient use. For companies willing to use Karbyte Web Agent over their intranet or internet, the web server is required to have Framework 1.1 (or higher) in order to serve the ASPX (ASP.NET) files and/or IIS should be configured to serve ASP.NET.
